Accessibility
Disabled and/or neurodivergent 2LGBTQ+ youth are especially welcome to be a part of P10's community
Ensuring your ability to access our space is our top priority. We welcome every opportunity to ensure and improve the accessibility of our space and events.
Reduced Mobility
The front entrance at 10138 rue Lajeunesse is at the top of 2 stairs, but there is also a wheelchair ramp (38.5 inches wide). At the entrance, you will find:
Handrails
Two doors to get into the building
An elevator and then one more door
No automatic door openers
A door frame of 35.5 inches wide.
If you would like any assistance getting in, such as opening doors for you as there are no automatic door openers, please get in contact with us. You can call us at (514) 989-0001 or email a staff member. Anytime we are open, we are happy to come down and assist you in getting into the building.
Washrooms
There is 1 private, non-gendered washroom at the P10 space, clearly marked in the open space in the rear of the building next to the kitchen.
The door can open up to 34.5 inches wide. There are no automatic doors, the handle is single-lever style. There is a toilet bar or grab bar on the left wall to assist mobility within the washroom. The sink and soap dispensers may be out of reach for patrons in wheelchairs.
Language
During our events, participants and volunteers are encouraged to speak in whatever language they feel most comfortable in. If needed, our coordinators can translate between participants.
During our events, if an individual requires ASL interpretation, an interpreter can be booked in advance. We do not book ASL or LSQ Interpretation unless there are prior arrangements made - please contact us as soon as you are able.
Support Persons
At P10 we aim to sustain a space where 2LGBTQIA+ youth can socialize, discuss, and create community. On our team, we have a Support Services Coordinator who is available for active listening sessions, accompaniments to appointments, help with filling our required forms, commissioner of oaths and even having a list of referrals.
To make an appointment for this service, use this form.
STM Tickets & Food
STM Tickets are available at all events and groups. As well, we have vegan and nut-free food (with ingredient lists) at all of our groups and opening hours that take place in the P10 space. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that there is no cross contamination from common allergens such as gluten.
Sensory Sensitivities
The P10 space strives to be a scent-free environment. Scented products such as perfume/cologne, hairspray and deodorant can trigger reactions such as respiratory distress and headaches as per Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety. Out of respect for staff and participants, we kindly ask that you refrain from using scented products before entering the space.
Primarily, scented products are used in the space for cleaning purposes on Sunday mornings.
Certain drop-in spaces may have loud noises / music. During these times, P10 can provide noise cancelling devices such as ear plugs.
During drop-in and events, the front room is reserved as a quiet space for participants who may be feeling overwhelmed during their time in the space. If you feel as though you need some support, active listening volunteers are readily available during events and drop-in times.
Project 10 also supplies various sensory devices or stim toys for individuals who seek extra sensory stimulation whilst in the space.
